The old-style head bolts were used until the 2011 model year, when new-style head bolts were introduced in order to avoid further damage.

While one-off cases include customer cars that have seen much better days, the most likely culprit for this in the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG is the Cabin AC air filter and the leather upholstery. The natural odor of the leather and Alcantara can sometimes smell musty and moldy. They need to be cleaned regularly with appropriate materials and care.
